About Erica

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Certified Canadian Counsellor, and Certified Career Strategist. I am the founder of Connect Student Therapy, an online therapy practice in British Columbia supporting post-secondary students and young professionals with addressing their mental health, lifestyle, and career concerns.

In addition to private practice, I am a counsellor educator and graduate school admissions officer. Previously, I have worked as an elementary and secondary school counsellor, post-secondary advisor, and youth counsellor in community mental health. My experience working in academic settings with students in various stages of their personal and career development has given me a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges that post-secondary students and young professionals face. I am passionate about supporting young adults in their process of healing and growth, and helping them develop the skills they need to navigate a complex life stage characterized by uncertainty and significant change.

As a second-generation Chinese Canadian, I understand the issues that Asian individuals face with regards to family relationships, cultural expectations, academic and career pressures, intergenerational trauma, and mental health stigma. I value providing clients from diverse backgrounds with a therapeutic approach that is culturally responsive and inclusive, and a space where they can feel truly seen and heard.

Outside of being a therapist and educator, I am a wife, daughter, sister, and dog mom to Bear and Brea. I spend my free time going on outdoor adventures, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and spending quality time connecting with my family and friends. I love world travel but am always grateful to return home to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
